Day 11 : window pane cookies.
These are a mini version of the type of cookies you can hang on a tree. Made of shortbread, gingerbread or cookie dough. A shape is cut out of the middle and a smashed up boiled sweet put in the space which spreads out when its in the oven.

Christmas tree santa
Day 10 : Santa decorations
I made these little Santas and angels about 7 years ago for the small Christmas tree that is in my craft room.
Each Santa is 1.5 inches tall and I put a small loop in the back of them so they could be hung from a tree.

Yule Log
Day 4: Yule log
A chocolate swiss roll covered in chocolate icing. I made three different types. The messiest part was putting the icing on. I should have really done it in two parts but didn't really think it through. The icing was made my mixing transclucent liquid sculpey and brown fimo clay until it was a gooey gluey substance.

Christmas cookie biscuits
Christmas is coming ...
I decided to make some more modern kind of foodstuffs and Pinterest came to my aid again with seasonal Christmas biscuits. I always look at the food on there and think is it possible to make it in miniature and more importantly make it look real in miniature from polymer clay.
I decided I'd have a go at making seasonal cookies. As usual I have ideas of how to do lots of different ones but decided to start with two simple designs - snowman and robin.
This is the basic robin in the making. On the left tile - a yellowy clay for the beak, red for the chest and brown for the body. The tiny caviar beads are used for the eyes. On the right hand tile is the biscuit base and the stages of making the robin.
Left to right how the different pieces were assembled.
After cooking they I glazed them with a semi matt varnish.
The snowmen were made in the same way with glittery fimo for the snow effect and caviar beads for the eyes, nose and mouth. Each biscuit is around 7mm round which in the real world would be 8.5cm which is more a cookie than a biscuit size. I did try and size it down to a biscuit but it seemed too small and this seemed a much better size.

Christmas is around the corner.
It's one of those weird quirks of anyone who makes things or sells things is that seasons and seasonal products tend to make an appearance at the wrong time of year. It's summer, sunny if not too warm and I'm thinking glitter, snow and good food that comes with December.
So I've started thinking of Christmas things as it's now June. I like the thought of making a gingerbread house or two - I bought a glass jar candle holder last year and think a a few mini houses would make a nice little scene in it, and making a few to sell of course!
So these are the first two I've made this year. I like the big roof on the first one which now resides in my dolls house. It's a big house 4cm x 4cm but as it's work in progress and my first practise piece it's fine.

After the big house came the smaller in scale and looking much better house -
As usual I have lots of plans and not enough time, but as I'm starting to think about things now in June I might be ready in six months time.

Biscuit Christmas Tree
I'd seen these biscuit christmas trees a few years back in some posh kitchen supplies shop. I love the idea of doing something like this but I'd stopped myself because for once I thought of the calories! Instead this year I've made a miniature version. It's a gingerbread biscuit as opposed to a butter biscuit or shortbread with icing and tiny silver ball decoration. I've put some chocolates around the edge of the tree to look parcel like.
I bought the cutters from a seller on ebay, I could kick myself as I'd gone out and bought one cutter for £4 from a shop because I was a bit impatient to do a couple of things and then I bought four sets of three cutters - round, oval, star and square for the same price from the land of bay.
I think the plate needs to be a different colour but I only had white at the time. A festive green or red would brighten it up. I'll have to look in my paper pile to see if there's anything appropriate.

Christmas Jewelled Cookies
Today's creations are sweet little christmas cookies. I took my inspiration from the boiled sweet cookies that I'd seen as Chrsitmas decorations. Shortbread cookies with icing and small gold balls and boiled sweet centres. I'd also made some christmas tree shapes and some snowflake fancies.
